It is done online by logging into the VMU Student Self-Service Portal https://studentas.vdu.lt.

For second, third, and fourth-year students registration will take place on August 20-25th.

For first-year students course registration will take place on August 27th.

The username and password required to register for courses will be sent to you via email.

You also must register for the corresponding group’s practice sessions, seminars, and lab work.

On September 2–4th, you will be able to adjust your course registrations – drop classes or grab open spots.

Group A:

Group A – courses in the main fields of science and the arts offered by the University, foreign languages, and courses designed to develop digital competencies.

This group consists of four subgroups:

Natural, Technological, and Agricultural Sciences
Humanities
Social Sciences
Arts
Foreign Languages
Digital Competency Development Subgroup

You must select at least one course from each of the four subgroups of study areas (at least 16 credits), excluding courses in the field of study of your degree program.

Group B:

Group B – alternative courses in fields of study offered in study programs other than the one in which the student is enrolled. Students may use the credits allocated to this group (12 credits) to freely select courses not only from Group B but also from Group A.

English and Other Foreign Languages:

From the foreign languages group, which consists of required English courses and other foreign language courses taught at the University, students must select no less than 12 credits and no more than 24 credits.

English:

Students who begin their studies at the University with a level of English higher than A1 must achieve a C1 level of academic English.

Students who begin their studies with a level of English at A1 must achieve a B2 level of academic English.

Students who have begun their studies at the University and possess C1-level proficiency English are required to take advanced English courses or other foreign languages totaling at least 12 credits.

Students may use their remaining free credits to take English courses at a level higher than C1, study other foreign languages, or take elective courses.

The level of English proficiency is determined based on the results of the English proficiency test administered by the Institute of Foreign Languages and the English grades on the high school diploma. If you already have a 90% or higher on your state English exam, or an official C1 certificate – you skip the English placement test. You can register right into C1 or C1/C2 classes. However, it is mandatory to submit documentation certifying C1-level proficiency.

If you are a full time student it is important to get a free Lithuanian student id (LSP) to get student discounts in Lithuania and abroad.

In the panel that opens, click the “Sports/Arts activities” button.

In the next step, “Registration for activities,” choose the sport or art activity you want.

You can view the classes you have registered for on the Student Portal, under the “My Classes” section.

The university holds 3-4 room inspections a year. Keep your floor clear, fridge clean, and trash emptied to avoid warning letters.

Residents will be informed about these inspections in advance.

The public transport in Kaunas consists of buses and trolleybuses.

Full price for the single paper ticket is 1,50 Eur or 0,30 Eur with a student id. Tickets can be bought directly from the driver. You can also pay by contactless credit (or debit) card (MASTERCARD, VISA, VISA ELECTRON). It will cost the full price 1,50 Eur.

Single e-tickets: “Žiogas app” provides a benefit of changing the route free of charge within 30 min after the initial boarding.

Using Žiogas app single ride is cheaper – 0,14 Eur with a student ID

“Trafi” is an app for real-time bus schedules, live GPS tracking, and route planning across Lithuania.
