Students are storming Vytautas the Great University

March 2 Students of Vytautas the Great University (hereinafter VDU SA) (S. Daukanto St. 27-201, Kaunas) gathered from early morning 10-12th grade students from all over Lithuania, ready to get to know the university and be students. Such an opportunity was given to them by the project "Student, become a student" organized by VDU SA, which is being implemented for the sixth time.

The purpose of the project is to familiarize students with the university's structure, values, activities of the Student Representative Office and, of course, the chosen study program. A mentor is assigned to each student according to the desired field of study.

Since the project is not limited to introducing a certain specialty, various extra-curricular activities are also carried out, of which the students have so far seen an introductory breakfast, during which they could get to know the mentors and other participants more closely. An evening was also organized for them with the President of VDU SA Justinus Petkus and the Director of the Student Affairs Service, VDU SA alumni Mantas Simanavičius, who told the students about the university, the opportunities for studying and the Student Representative Office.

When the students were asked about their first impressions at the university, tenth-grader Miglė and eleventh-grader Vaida said that the first two days did not disappoint them. The girls smile and share their impressions of friendly mentors, a meaningful Monday evening, interesting lectures and a sense of freedom, which the students identify as the main difference between university and school. Vytautas, a twelfth-year student, who chose an acting study program, also seconded the girls and when asked if he regrets coming to the project, he unequivocally answers that he does not. He also says that he has already managed to deepen his knowledge not only about the university, but also about Kaunas itself and claims that Kaunas is definitely not inferior to Vilnius.

Although the students have a busy schedule and sometimes lack time to relax, we hope that the week at the university will be a useful experience for them and will help them decide on their future, and when they return to school they will be happy with the opportunity to be students.
