The first week of the "Student, be a student" project

Today, the first week of the jubilee, already fifth, project "Student, be a student" ended. It was attended by 45 lucky students who were lucky enough to try themselves as a student. This project will last another two weeks, in which selected candidates from 600 applicants will have the opportunity to participate.

This week, students got to know the university, teachers, participated in lectures and seminars. In the lectures of special subjects, they deepened their knowledge in the professions of interest, and in the general lectures they got acquainted with the general rules of the university. Dormitories and other features of student life were also shown.

During extracurricular activities, students participated in various events organized by the Student Representation, such as informal lectures with teachers, a meeting with the university rector Zigmus Lydeka, karaoke evenings and brainstorming. The Student Representation introduced the students to their work and the activities of the committees.

"We received a lot of knowledge. We learned the meaning of colloquiums, credits and other important terms at the university, which used to be mystical. This project broadened our perception of our dream major in politics, the professors were very interesting. I think that now we will definitely choose this specialty", said two project participants Inesa and Bernadeta after summarizing their impressions of this week.

We also interviewed the president of the Student Representation of Vytautas the Great University, Justinas Petkäs. How does this project look in the eyes of the president, would Justin himself participate in this project if he was still a student and why. "This project is the best opportunity to be a student and understand what higher education and university are and see if the student wants to associate the future with a certain specialty and higher education. If I had the chance, I would definitely participate because it would have been easier to decide what I wanted to study. Experience shows that I enrolled in a philosophy program and after half a year realized that it was not for me. I had to switch to another program - public communication. Thanks to this project, I would have immediately hit where I really wanted."

So, at the end of the first week, we can be happy that the students were satisfied not only with the activity program, but also with a lot of knowledge and invaluable experience. We are glad that we met the expectations of schoolchildren and future students, so we are looking forward to new students with whom we will spend another two weeks. The project "Student, become a student" is a new experience not only for schoolchildren, but also for students.
