Presidential Scholarship Competition

In accordance with the Resolution No. 310 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania of March 21, 2012, “On the Establishment of the Named Scholarships of the Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania A. Smetona, A. Stulginskis, K. Grinius, J. Žemaitis and A. Brazauskas”, Vytautas Magnus University first and second cycle and integrated studies students are invited to participate in the state competition for the Named Scholarships of the Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania.

By April 22, 2014, candidates must submit to their faculty deans:

o an application in the prescribed form (filled out by the student)
o a certificate of study results for the last two semesters. In the case of a master's student - a certificate of the autumn and last semesters of bachelor's studies (academic certificate will be prepared by the dean's office);
o a description of the student's scientific and/or artistic activities; (prepared by the leaders of organizations, scientific works, etc.)
o documents proving the student's participation in competitions, expeditions, student research practice projects, published scientific and other works.

Selected candidates will be informed on April 29, 2014.

ON THE NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA FOR STUDENTS

In accordance with the Resolution No. 310 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania of 21 March 2012, “On the Establishment of the Named Scholarships of the Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania A. Smetona, A. Stulginskis, K. Grinius, J. Žemaitis and A. Brazauskas”, students of the first and second cycle of studies and integrated studies of Vytautas Magnus University may apply for:

· Antanas Smetona Scholarship:
o in the field of humanities studies: students of the relevant study programs of the Faculties of Humanities, Arts and Catholic Theology.
and in the field of art studies: students of the relevant study programs of the Academy of Music and the Faculty of Arts.
· Aleksandras Stulginskis Scholarship:
and in the field of physical sciences: students of the relevant study programs of the Faculties of Informatics and Natural Sciences.
· Kazys Grinius Scholarship:
o in the field of biomedical sciences: students of the relevant study programs of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
· Jonas Žemaitis Scholarship:
and in the field of technological sciences: students of the relevant study programs of the Faculties of Natural Sciences and Informatics.
· Algirdas Brazauskas Scholarship:
o in the field of social science studies: students of relevant study programs of the Faculties of Economics and Management, Social Sciences, Political Science and Diplomacy, Law, Catholic Theology and Arts, and the Academy of Music.

Nominal scholarship amounts:
· A scholarship in the amount of 5 basic social benefits (hereinafter referred to as BSI) is awarded to third or fourth year students of basic university or integrated studies and is paid starting from the fifth semester of studies;
· A scholarship of 7 BSI is awarded to second-year master's students and is paid starting from the third semester of studies or to fifth-year students of integrated studies and is paid starting from the ninth semester of studies [Marker].

Presidential scholarships are paid monthly and are terminated (funds are returned to the Ministry of Education) in the following cases:
· after a student discontinues or completes his/her studies at a higher education institution;
· the student has academic debts;
· a disciplinary penalty has been imposed on the student.
