The students will become VMU students for a week

The project "Students, become a student" (MPS) organized by Vytautas Magnus University's (VDU) Student Representation (SA) invites students to experience student life. in 2023 during the activities that will take place on February 20-24, students in grades 10-12 will have the opportunity to try out the desired VMU study program and university, get to know teachers and students, and gain invaluable experience before becoming a student.

During the project, students from various Lithuanian schools attend lectures together with students, participate in the activities of university organizations, get to know teachers and students, gain experience up close, learn about the study process and how to sit through a 90-minute lecture. During the entire project, mentors selected from the VMU Student Representation will help the students and share their experience.

Last academic year, the students who participated in the project were happy with new knowledge, acquaintances and the opportunity to fully experience student life. In addition to the time spent with other students, I remembered the university, it became clearer how lectures are held, the VMU study process and what life is like in a dormitory. Agnė, who participated in the project and is now a freshman, is happy that during the project, her fear about the duration of the chosen studies disappeared, and the teachers and the dean of the faculty told her more about the study program. "It's nice that after enrolling and starting to attend lectures, the teachers remember that I was already with them. It was also much easier to make a schedule and start studies." Deimantė, a first-year in the Marketing study program, seconded her: "After the project, the acquaintances that remained helped a lot in starting student life, and it was not the first time to see the university corridors, which I think was the biggest plus of the project, that I didn't feel like a complete stranger when I joined."

Students usually think about how to pass the matriculation exams as best as possible, but they lack ways to familiarize themselves with the activities and learning opportunities after school. If you are still thinking about what you would like to study or, on the contrary, you already know your future plans - MPS is a great opportunity to learn more about the study program you are interested in, not only in theory by reading the program description on the Internet, but also to try it out in practice - by participating in the study process and informal activities at the university.

Until January 13 at 5 p.m. students can fill out a questionnaire and write a motivational letter, thus expressing their desire to participate in the project.

The most motivated students (according to motivational letters) will be selected for the project and will be informed about their admission on January 16. Then the students will have their first student task: to create a 5-day schedule from the sent study subjects according to the subjects that interest the student and which faculty and study programs he has chosen. The schedule will be drawn up until February 1.

February 10 students will get to know their assigned mentors, they will be able to communicate remotely, and on February 19, before the study week, they will have the opportunity to meet live in Kaunas, get to know the organizers and start the adventure of studying and being a student.

The project is adapted to students with individual needs (the organizers must be informed about them in the registration form).

Students who are not from the city of Kaunas and do not have a place to stay in Kaunas will be accommodated in a dormitory for free.

The project is free.

Meals are not paid for, participants must take care of it themselves.

Selected student-participants or their parents (guardians) will have to sign a contract.

The project is organized in cooperation with VMU administration.
