A student is in the chair of the mayor of the city of Kaunas

On November 15, Friday, on the occasion of the International Student Day (ISD), once a year, a student is granted the exclusive right to take over the position of mayor of Kaunas. Vaida Godvishaitė, a master's student at Kaunas University of Technology, took advantage of the unique opportunity to lead the city of Kaunas this year.

Back in 1941, November 17 was decided to be dedicated specifically to students. The desire to unite all young people in the world, regardless of their race, language and customs, has also reached the Lithuanian student body. In keeping with tradition for several years in a row, on the occasion of the International Student Day (ISD), the most important positions in the Kaunas city administration are occupied by students. This year is no exception, the place of Kaunas city mayor Andrias Kupčinskas will be taken over for one day by a student elected by the representatives of higher school municipalities.

During this exceptional occasion, Vaida Godvišaita will have to make many responsible decisions. The student was given not only the opportunity to occupy the mayor's office, but also to be heard when solving important student problems. Congratulation of the temporary city mayor and the opening of the students' monument - this is the beginning of the new mayor's working day.

V. Godvišaitė's goal as the mayor of the city would be to show that Kaunas is the city that willingly accepts the youth of Lithuania and foreign countries, tries to ensure the best conditions for life, academic development and opportunities for self-realization. The student says: "The youth of Kaunas must familiarize themselves with the encouragement of the city municipality to create and implement youthful ideas in the city of Kaunas. We must delve deeper into the issue of promoting and financing student initiatives, ensuring the safety of students in the city of Kaunas, and seek to find out the needs and proposals of students."

The election of the student mayor of the city of Kaunas is one of the many parts of celebrating the International Student Day. While students are buzzing in the city center all day, in the evening students will be invited to a huge concert dedicated to students and not only in the Kaunas sports hall, where we will be able to see such groups as "Tie jerini", "Saulės kliošas", "Skamp" and "Radistas" will not allow us to stand still.
