Lithuanian students are invited to "turn on the academic light bulb"

On November 8, students from all over Lithuania will have the opportunity to prove that they care about higher education issues. The Student Representative Council of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) is organizing an academic knowledge test and conference – “Education 2016”. This initiative, whose slogan is “Turn on the academic light!”, is expected to encourage young people to take a more active interest in the education system and academic integrity.

"Education 2016" is a test prepared on the principle of the Constitutional Exam, which will be based on questions from the Laws on Science and Studies, Education Laws, and the Bologna Process. Students will also be asked questions about volunteer activities, student movements, and direct student representation.

The exam will be held in two stages. During the first stage, students from Lithuanian higher education institutions (partners of this project) will be able to test their academic knowledge on November 8. The second, final stage will be held on November 17 in Kaunas, at Vytautas Magnus University. During the exam, an Academicity Conference will be organized, which will improve students' academic knowledge of higher education, raise effective learning competencies, and encourage them to be honest and socially responsible students.

The academic test for students was organized during the VMU “Spring Festival”, but this time it was decided to take it to a new level – to include all Lithuanian higher education institutions. Students of all levels and forms of study can become participants in “Education 2016”. The implementation of the exam in specific higher education institutions is taken care of by the student government.
