University community awards were distributed

On March 13, in the Great Hall of Vytautas the Great University (VDU), the university community awards "V2" were held, where the best university teachers, student organizations and initiatives were awarded. A total of 13 statuettes were awarded.

The award ceremony organized by the VDU Student Representative Office was opened by the young accordionist Vytenis Danielius, after whose performance Roland Daugelas, docent of the Music Academy, was presented with the "Violin Key of the Year" award. The "Ambassador of the Year" statuette was received by prof. Liudas Mažylis for promoting the name of the university and active academic activities at the national and international level. The "Department of the Year" award was presented to VMU's Center for Business Practitioners, and Daiva Pundziuvienė, who became "Foreigner of the Year", said that she did not expect such an assessment. Dr. received the "Breakthrough of the Year" statuette. Aurelijs Zykas joked that he had already signed up for singing lessons, because a modern teacher must be able to fully interest the student, and that requires a lot of creativity.

"When there is so much hostility both in Lithuania and in the world, it's great that we can find compromises and cooperate", said VMU Rector Prof. Juozas Augutis together with the President of the Student Representation of Alexander Stulginskis University (ASU) Liveta Budreckyte receiving the "Couple of the Year" award, which went to VDU, ASU and the Lithuanian University of Education (LEU) marking their merger.

The director of the Department of Student Affairs, Mantas Simanavičius, presented the "Volunteer of the Year" award to Karolina Vitkute, a first-year master's student of the European Union Public Policy and Administration Program. "Organization of the Year" became the mixed choir "Vivere Cantus" of VDU, after receiving the statuette they performed "Deep River" for the audience. Dr. was declared "Innovator of the Year". Justinas Kisieliauskas did not say a word when receiving the award. He gave his acceptance speech as a recording on his phone, and after it ended, he took a selfie on stage. The "initiative of the year" became sandwich warmers.

Multilingualism and multiculturalism, taught by Mindaugas Norkevičius, was chosen as the "Lecture of the Year" by the students. The doctoral student revealed that this lecture is extremely important to him because it "grew up" with him and his ideas at the university. The "Teacher of the Year" award was presented by Simona Pilkienė, director of the Department of Studies, after systematizing the results of the teachers' evaluation questionnaires. It is dedicated to Prof. Andrii Narbekov. This teacher was also awarded the "Sense of Humor of the Year" award.

Among the participants of the nomination ceremony, the music group "Intervalai", the dance studios "Basse" and "Solo latino" performed. At the end of the evening, the artist Gabrielius Vagelis gave his acoustic concert to the guests, accompanied by the pianist Lukas Gedvilas.
