The most relevant issues for young people - at the meeting between students and European Commission member Androulla Vassiliou

How to better solve the efficiency of higher education, unemployment, educational exchange and other sensitive issues important to young people, the student community will discuss in a meeting with the European Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou, who is responsible for education, culture, multilingualism, youth and sports.

 The discussion between students and commissioner A. Vassiliou on the most relevant issues for young people will take place this year. on Friday, September 6, from 10:20 a.m. Vytautas the Great University (VMU) Mažoja hall, Daukanto st. 28.

According to the organizers of the event, the guest from the European Commission is determined to have a constructive dialogue with representatives of higher education institutions and expects the activity, sharp position and original proposals of Lithuanian youth.

"Europe is at a crossroads. Now is the time to move forward, innovate, implement reforms, and make difficult but necessary decisions to transform our nations' economies and strengthen their societies. Our approach must be clear: in order to remain competitive in a rapidly changing world and to develop the society of tomorrow, we must invest in the people of our nation, especially the youth - in their skills, ability to adapt to changes and create innovations", A. Vassiliou noted.

During the discussion, A. Vassiliou will focus on education, youth unemployment, Erasmus+ program innovations and other topics. The Commissioner will read the opening message, and most of the time of the event will be devoted to answers to students' questions and discussions. The moderator, dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences and Diplomacy of VMU, prof. Šarūnas Liekis.

The meeting with Commissioner A. Vassiliou is one of the four events in which the European Commission's representative office in Lithuania conducts a cycle of introductory meetings. This is how December 13 is being prepared. For the "Citizens' Dialogue" with the Vice-President of the European Commission, Viviane Reding, to be held in the Vilnius Town Hall.

The "Citizens' Dialogue" initiative is intended to mark 2013 - the European Year of Citizens. During this year, the events taking place throughout Europe encourage dialogue between all levels of government, civil society and business representatives about the rights guaranteed by the EU, ways of solving the economic situation and the future of Europe.
