Student research conference "LOST (IN) HERITAGE"
in 2015 April 10 For the first time, Vytautas Magnus University (VDU), Faculty of Arts (MF), master's degree students organized a scientific research conference entitled "Lost (in) heritage" dedicated to architect prof. Dr. In memory of Nijolė Lukšionytė, an active nurturer of Lithuanian heritage. The name of the conference is a play on words, which indicates that the topics should reflect and emphasize our heritage from the past. At the conference everyone could participate, but it is focused on 3rd-4th year undergraduate students and master's students. The call for participation specified a loose interpretation of "LOST (in) HERITAGE" - scientific presentations aimed at presenting various heritage topics and a strict presentation format - Pecha Kucha format (20 slides of 20 seconds each). The purpose of the conference is a useful experience for students - an opportunity to share their ideas, communicate with colleagues, and make further contacts.
The initiators of the event are VMU MF master's degree studies I. students with their coordinating teacher dr. Ingrida Veliute, who gave birth to the idea of the "LOT (in) HERITAGE" conference. According to I. Veliutė's idea, they are taught Cultural policy the students of the lecture had to do various activities and organize an event to take place. In this way, it was aimed to provide not only theoretical, but also practical experience. The students chose the activities closer to them at their own discretion: one by one or in groups, they compiled the criteria for those who want to participate, prepared the conference description, informative reports, created a logo and distributed all the necessary information through various means of communication. During the conference, students captured the moments of the event, with dr. With the help of I. Veliutė, they conducted and coordinated the event themselves. After the scientific presentations, Gilles Vuillard's short film "Legend in a Box" related to the theme of the event was shown. The author of the film was also supposed to appear at the conference, unfortunately G. Vuillard had to go to Berlin. With this film and warm tea and sweets from the original buffet, which was also prepared by students with MF dean's doc. Dr. With the help of Ina Pukelytė, the event was completed.
Conference schedule:
Ugnė Ražinskaitė "Lost Antoniškiu estate";
The scientific report talks about the Antoniškii manor, which no longer exists. Its rejection as an object of cultural significance is well illustrated by the natives' derogatory description of it as a "bending nest", its denial of value, and ultimately its destruction. The people who lived in the manor, their biographies, the history of the former building, the current environment of the once standing manor, where individual gravestones of the people who lived in the manor remained. Along with them, a part of its history and that of the surrounding area was lost.
The presentation gave a glimpse into the fragility of history and heritage.
Justina Kiuršinaitė,,The use of new media in the external communication of theaters";
The influence of the new media and mass communication carried out by them on human life was examined. External communication carried out in the Soviet era was compared with today's strategies, how advertising aims to shape the consumer's attitude. The active use of new media in the external communication of theaters and the change in its nature is perceived as the institution's reaction to the changed audience and its needs. The idea is emphasized that the external communication of the theater performs not only the function of broadcasting information, but also actively influences the user to purchase the service, while the most important task of the viewer is to choose a product that meets his interests.
Evaldas Cydzika "The experience of preserving the wooden architecture of the city of Rauma (Finland). What could Kaunas learn from?";
The importance of wooden architecture in Scandinavian countries was emphasized, the problem raised was the lack of comparative/research works on wooden architecture. The author stated that the reasons for the spread of wooden architecture in this country are the geographical/geopolitical situation, the closer connection of local communities with heritage and traditions. The history of the city of Rauma, the progress of the heritage order, was presented. It is claimed that in the 20th century Ave. - avg. they wanted to modernize the architecture, as a result the wooden buildings were demolished as non-functional, but later they began to be restored and reconstructed. The result is the inclusion of wooden architecture in UNESCO.
According to the author of the report, the key to Finland's success is close cooperation between local government and the community. The idea was raised that this could become a lesson for Kaunas - it is important to create a responsible attitude towards culture and heritage and finally decide what is most important for the city, to promote cooperation between institutions and residents. The key to success is focusing not on finances, but on community, the aspiration to foster culture.
Gintarė Čiuladaitė and Rugilė Pukštytė "Historical experience: make sense, desemiotize, leave on the bridge";
The theater situation is associated with historical experience, trauma theory. The idea that the formation of the idea of a national theater, its creation and the emphasis on the uniqueness of culture in the 20th century was emphasized. becomes irrelevant. An informal, avant-garde theater begins to be created, as a counterpoint to the idea of a national theater, the problem of national identity is raised. Alternative productions and institutions are forming slowly, because there is no concrete formulation of what is the opposition to the national theater.
The report also discusses auteur directing, its emergence in the interwar period, and promoted auteur theater as a counter to the collectivism of the Soviet theater, the idea of theater unification. The young scientists raised the idea that in order to make the theater more relevant, it is necessary to destroy the culture of metaphorical language. As a possible alternative, he named Oskar Koršunov's performance "PS case OK" and the director's own desire to destroy father's, as an image of the power structure and the relationship with it. Different approaches to history, there is no single ideology. Also presented were other approaches to the issues of theater history emphasized in the theater. The problem is raised that every season questions are asked, what is the story, what is it, what was our position, but attempts to reveal it are often unsuccessful.
The conclusion of the presentation - Lithuanian theater is still looking for signs of national identity, although they are no longer necessary for our reality.
A short film "Legend in a Box" review;
Director Gilles Vuillard's message to the audience:
"There were no searches or experiments here, the idea was to film what was happening, to follow life as a flow of events and emotions.
"The unconscious is structured like a language," says Jacques Lacan, and it must speak without hesitation. Abstract elements - as non-experimental, non-conformist forms of experience.
If there is a conquered territory, it is like a kind of smoke, like river fog when it is very cold. When the sun rises, the fog disappears inside the mind.
It is important for mystery to constantly redraw its contours, its boundaries change, its plains change, and its rivers change their places, forms and functions.
The realities of this world are too real to take too seriously. It is important to dare to say no, to reject false institutions, to accept the changes in thoughts that happen every 10 seconds."
After the troubles of organizing the conference are over, the young organizers of the event can take a breath and rejoice that the conference went smoothly and at the same time evaluate what gave them the most pleasure and what caused them difficulties. The students of the Faculty of Arts joke that the most pleasant thing was watching the event already taking place and enjoying warm coffee. According to them, although the result makes up for their worries, the biggest difficulty they have had to face is the search for conference speakers and the destruction caused by their lack. However, after coping with difficulties, optimistic students value experience, even negative ones, as a useful part of organizing art projects, value the opportunity to deepen their knowledge, strengthen communication with colleagues and expand the circle of like-minded people.
