Lithuanian students do not remain indifferent to educational issues
On November 30, students from all over Lithuania were bustling in the small hall of Vytautas the Great University (VDU). They were eagerly waiting for the second round of the final academic knowledge test Enlightenment 2017. Representatives from the Lithuanian Higher Maritime School, Kaunas University of Technology, Vilnius Gediminas University of Technology, Aleksander Stulginskis and Vytautas the Great universities competed for the name of the winner.
After the test, a conference was held, where Mantas Simanavičius, director of the VMU Student Affairs Department, together with the students, tried to answer today's most relevant questions: what is the value of a diploma after graduation and is a diploma a guarantor of a secure future?
After the commission calculated the results, it became clear that Šarūnas Rimkus, a second-year student of Political Science at VMU, became the winner of the first place of "Enlightenment" in 2017. The boy participated in the academic knowledge test for the first time, and when asked if the test seemed difficult, he answered that the most important thing is to prepare well. For other students Š. Rimkus recommended looking into the education system, as it is not only interesting, but also useful.
2nd and 3rd places were taken by LSMU Medical Sciences student Džiugas Grėbliūnas and VMU Political Sciences student Lukas Gedvila. The winners are awarded with smart watches.
"I am very happy that this initiative, which has been organized by the Vytautas Magnus University Students' Representative Office for two years, is attracting great interest - as many as 400 students participated in the first stage. This number shows that Lithuanian students are interested in education and science news and actively participate in student events", - says Vytautas Kučinskas, coordinator of academic affairs of the VMU Student Representation and organizer of the "Enlightenment" exam and conference.
