The first president of the VMU Student Representation was elected!

During the reporting and election conference of the Vytautas Magnus University Student Representation (VDU SA) held on March 16, for the first time in the organization's history, Greta Šmaižytė, a third-year student at the Faculty of Social Sciences, was elected president. During the conference, the annual activity report of the former president, Eigirdas Sarkans, was presented, the Board of VDU SA and the Audit Commission were elected.

Two students registered as candidates for the position of president, but due to circumstances, one candidate withdrew his candidacy shortly before the election. The President was elected by secret ballot by the VMU Student Parliament. The only remaining candidate Greta Šmaižytė collected 23 votes for, 7 against and one ballot was damaged. The new Board was also elected: Justė Elzbergaitė, Adomas Kačerauskas, Eigirdas Sarkanas, Martynas Švarcas and Greta Šmaižytė, according to the positions held by the president. The following were elected to the new Audit Commission: Raimonda Smailytė, Arnas Bendaravičius, Lukas Gedvila, Laura Dragūnaitė and Rimgailė Daukšytė.

The new president of VDU SA shares her emotions: "I am extremely happy, but I understand the responsibility that lies on my shoulders. I am ready to accept it and I believe that we will accomplish a lot with our team." Greta's team consists of Vytautas Kučinskas (coordinator of the academic affairs committee), Solveiga Skaisgirytė (coordinator of the social affairs committee), Dominyka Kurklietytė (coordinator of the cultural committee), Sandra Matoškaitė (project and coordinator of the international relations committee), Lukas Dzedulionis (coordinator of the marketing and advertising committee), Rūta Šerpytytė and Ieva Ramanauskaitė (coordinators of the public relations committee), Živilė Masytė (chief editor of the newspaper "Studis"), Laurynas Nikelis (coordinator of the human resources committee) and Ignas Lokcikas (office administrator).

The President of the Lithuanian Students' Union Mažvydas Savickas, the Director of the Student Affairs Office of VDU Mantas Simanavičius, the Rector of VDU Juozas Augutis, representatives of other municipalities and VDU SA Alumni thanked the old president and congratulated the new one.
