Vytautas the Great University Student Parliament meeting

On February 19, 2014, Vytautas the Great University hosted the first meeting of the VMU student parliament, which was attended by 29 representatives (a total of 30 students were elected, who were elected in direct voting by the students of their faculties). During this meeting, the speaker of the parliament was elected, who became Justinas Petkus, and the secretary - Jurgita Frišmantaitė. Later, the vote counting committee and the chairperson of the committee were elected, Greta Mickevičiūtė (who was also elected chairperson), Viktorija Kochanauskaitė and Viktorija Šaulytė became members. After these votes, the parliamentary agenda was approved, consisting of 5 points:

1. Approval of amendments to the statutes of the VMU Student Representative Office;

2. Approval of representatives to VMU Faculties and councils;

3. Approval of student representatives in the VMU Senate;

4. Approval of student representatives in the VMU Council;

5. Elections to the VMU Student Parliament Election Commission.

After some discussion, each item was put to a vote, all of which received a majority of members of parliament and were therefore approved. Also, three persons were elected to the Election Commission of the VMU Student Parliament: Roberta Remeikaitė, Jurgita Frišmantaitė (also elected chairperson) and Ėuolas Mocevičius. After this vote, there was a short discussion about scholarships at VMU University, and after a little less than an hour, the first meeting was declared closed.
