Students delegated their representative to the VMU Council
In the electronic vote of the Student Parliament of Vytautas the Great University (VDU) held on December 7, it was decided to delegate Kęstutis Jasiulevičius as a student representative to the VDU Council.
While still a student, K. Jasiulevičius was actively involved in the activities of the VMU Student Representation (SA) and the Lithuanian Student Union. He currently heads the Passenger Service Department at LG Link. K. Jasiulevičius has accumulated many years of experience in the field of business, working with human resources, communication, and project management.
K. Jasiulevičius in the University Council says that he will strive for positive changes for students: "First of all, my goal is to represent the interests of students as much as possible, to promote the cooperation of the VMU community, to encourage VMU to implement the necessary changes."
VDU SA President Paulius Vaitiekus says that K. Jasiulevičius was actively involved in the activities of the student movement and that students' problems are certainly no stranger to him: "The elected member of the Council tends to communicate directly both with the Student Parliament and with student representatives in other university bodies, which provides an opportunity for various seek solutions more effectively."
According to his position, the president of VDU SA is also delegated to the University Council.
The VMU Council is a collegial governing body that, after evaluating the proposals of the Senate, approves the vision and mission of the university, the strategic plan of operations submitted by the rector, the procedure for organizing the election of the rector through a public tender, plans for the reorganization or liquidation of the University, determines the university's funds (as well as funds for managers and for the wages of other employees) and the procedure for managing, using and disposing of assets, as well as considering and approving plans for restructuring the University structure provided by the rector, electing, appointing and dismissing the rector, taking care of support for the university and performing other functions. The University Council consists of 11 members for 5 years.
