VMU Community Christmas is full of warmth and kindness

On December 8, the event "VDU Community Christmas" organized by the VDU Student Representation took place. The real Santa Claus invited the entire community of Vytautas the Great University to look forward to the most beautiful holidays of the coming year, share warmth with each other and have a good time.

The event was opened by the orienteering competition "Catch (Christmas) Santa". Teams tried to catch Santa Claus all over Kaunas and VMU faculties. The orientation competition attracted a lot of attention from foreign students, they made up more than half of the competition participants. We congratulate the winners of orientation competitions: 1st place - "Kvidukai", 2nd place - "IT", 3rd place - "Meduoliai". We are glad that Santa was caught successfully and came to the event! During the event, the participants were delighted with live Christmas music performed by talented VMU students: Kristina Chlastauskaitė, Justina Mulskytė, Emilija Bagdonaitė and Gytis Murauskas. The performers helped create a festive and cozy atmosphere while the participants worked on the Christmas workshop. They included making Christmas wreaths and cards, decorating cookies, creating a Christmas tree for the VDU community, and Christmas science tricks shown by "Modus".

Much attention was paid to social actions, most of them aimed at Ukraine. There was one very special Christmas tree at VDU Community Christmas, decorated with the wishes of Ukrainian children. It was invited to contribute to the project "Christmas trees” and fulfill at least one wish of a Ukrainian child. The war in Ukraine is still going on and we must remember to sacrifice, we are only strong when we are together. So let's make this Christmas magical for all children! They were also invited to contribute to the initiative organized by the university "I donate lunch money to support VDU Ukrainian Students". All collected money will be used to pay one-time scholarships to Ukrainian students of VMU.

You can transfer funds for this initiative to a special AB SEB bank account:

LT41 7044 0600 0284 8638

Recipient: Vytautas the Great University

Purpose of payment: Support for Ukrainian students of VMU.

"Juchna braids" also joined the social actions for Ukraine, which invited participants to weave a braid with the flag of Ukraine, and the 50% funds collected for the braids will be donated to Ukraine. During the event, those who need warmth and attention the most - the elderly - were not forgotten. The VDU community made postcards and wrote the warmest wishes to the elderly. We hope that these cards will warm the hearts of the elderly.

The event was crowned by the lighting of the VDU Christmas tree. The rector of the university Juozas Augutis said before lighting the tree: "We are lighting this tree because there is such a lack of light in this dark period." And VDU SA President Ieva was happy that so many members of the VDU community gathered to light the tree and wished to meet their closest ones by the end of this year to your people: "make time for them and do not set new goals in the coming year, but finally fulfill the ones you set last year.".

We wish you pleasant upcoming holidays!
