L. Donskis library will be open around the clock during the autumn session
The successful 24/7 library project will also be implemented during the fall session. L. Donskis library-reading room (V. Putvinskio st. 23) will be open around the clock. The library-reading room will be open non-stop (both on weekdays and weekends) from November 25 to December 16.
From 21:00 access to the library will be possible only through the inner courtyard. Only VDU students can visit the library at night, so you will need to show a document proving your VDU student status (LSP, ISIC certificate or certificate) at the entrance. From 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., librarians will work in the library, then security staff will take care of order. It is important to note that from 9 p.m. only the library will be open, so going to other parts of the building (except for the toilets on the first floor of the building) is strictly prohibited. It is also mandatory to observe the university library rules.
,,A 24/7 library provides an atmosphere where you can concentrate, when it is difficult to do this in a dormitory or at home, - says VDU Education Academy student Gabrielė Jonuskaitė - also, knowing that the library is open 24 hours a day, you can dedicate the day to work or volunteering , and in the evening - to study productively".
In September, 549 respondents took part in the survey "Working hours of the VDU Library" conducted by the VDU Student Representation. Almost half of them (49.9%) said that they wanted the VDU Library to work around the clock, every day during the autumn session. The need for a 24-hour library was also demonstrated by the active visit of students to the library during the spring session.
