Impressions after the freshman camp: "It seems that even the university has changed"
On August 31-September 1 and September 7-8, the first-year camp "Balanced Fuksas" organized by the Student Representative Office of Vytautas Magnus University (VDU SA) took place.
After participating in the introductory week's events and the first lectures, the students had the opportunity to continue their acquaintance with the university for the weekend in a different space, the first-year camp, in the Vievi district. Activities held in nature helped new university students learn about the student movement, the structure of VMU, university organizations and make friends with each other.
"In my opinion, every first-year student should participate in the freshman camp," Aušrinė Sutkutė, a first-year psychology student, shared her impressions. - It's not just getting to know university students, but also joining into one big community. After this weekend, only the best memories remain. Even the university seems to have changed when you see a lot of familiar faces there after the camp.”
The camp started with familiarization and team building games. In the evening, there was a simulation in which the things learned during the day had to be applied while walking around a fictional city that at first seemed like one of the best places in the world, until nightfall and the sound of war sirens revealed that strange things were happening here. The freshmen had to save the city and save themselves by running away from the townspeople attacking them and solving various puzzles and tasks.
"I really liked the camp. I got to know other freshmen both in my group and in others. Lectures by the organization's alumni also helped to broaden the horizons, said Erikas Meškonis, a freshman in psychology. - We learned to work as a team with the other freshmen and it helped us in the simulation tasks. I was also surprised by the night part and how much effort and work the organizers put in."
As every year, after the "Balanced Fuks" camps are over, we invite freshmen and not only to come to the fair on September 12. at 5 p.m. K. Donelaičio str. Foyer 52, where it will be possible to learn more about the activities of VDU SA committees and register for them.
