The 8th "Student, be a student" project has ended
On April 8, the project "Students, become a student" organized by the Vytautas Magnus University Student Representative Office (VDU SA) ended for the eighth time. The project is intended for students of grades 10-12 from all over Lithuania. The main goal of the project is to familiarize students with the study program they are interested in, the university, its structure, cherished values, and student organizations. The students not only participated in various lectures, but also engaged in extracurricular activities, which helped the project participants get to know each other better and learn more about Vytautas the Great University.
On Monday morning, the students were introduced to the project coordinators, mentors and the general rules. In the evening of the next day, there was a meeting with the president of VDU SA, Eigirdas Sarkan, who explained more about the activities of VDU SA. The students also took part in a brainstorming session, an evening of performances, a tour of the new university faculty on V. Putvinskis street, informal lectures with university professors and had the opportunity to see the annual festive awards evening "V2". On the last day of the project, there was a general discussion, certificates and souvenir gifts were presented to the students.
Graduate student Rūta, a participant of the last week, shares her impressions: "I learned why and how much students and teachers like VMU. I felt the atmosphere of the university, which made me realize that if I enrolled here, I would feel good there. I had heard a lot of rumors about the creative industries, but now I have my own opinion about this study program because I had the opportunity to learn a lot more about it in person. My choices have not changed fundamentally, but now I will definitely be calmer when entering the university." Vygailė, one of the project coordinators, says: "The project, like all seven previous times, was really successful. After spending time in our project, students can often answer the tormenting question "Where to go?" This semester, the concept of the project was slightly changed, compared to the previous times, we divided the students according to their classes, so we could concentrate more on what is more relevant for the tenth grade and what for the twelfth grade. Autumn promises many innovations for this project - a radical change of the project concept is expected."
The 8th project allowed even 120 Lithuanian schoolchildren to feel like students. For students who participated in the project, 0.5 points are added to the existing competitive score in the event that they enter the VMU by prior admission or without using the LAMA BPO system and apply for a place not financed by the state.
