Harbinger of Spring - Festival "Primavera en español"
From April 7 to 17, VMU students are invited to the traditional spring celebration - the festival of Spanish culture for the fourth time "Primavera en español". Kaunas and guests of the city will be waiting for many events full of Spanish spirit, which this year is united by the theme "Spanish in the world: 25 years at VDU".
On the afternoon of the first day of the festival, at 4:00 p.m., the organizers invite fans of Spanish culture to the official opening celebration in the Great Hall of VDU (Gimnazijos St. 7). The representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain and VMU will welcome the participants, and the hearts will be delighted by the works performed in Spanish by the students of the VMU Music Academy. When the beginning of the Spanish spring is announced, everyone will traditionally be treated to a feast.
During the 25 years of the restored VMU, thousands of students have learned Spanish, and for many of them, this language has become a symbol of success. Therefore, perhaps the most important highlight of the festival is the evening, to which all former and current VDU Spanish students are invited. In a pleasant conversation with VDU graduates, you will be able to hear life-like and inspiring stories about how this language of temperamental southerners helped them fulfill their dreams and achieve their goals.
This year, students and schoolchildren will demonstrate their ingenuity, and the guests of the festival will be able to participate with them in the creative workshop "I draw Spain". Another event - a cartoon ode to telenovelas - will bring back memories of childhood and bring tears to your eyes. New at the "Primavera en español" festival is the social friendship action "Letter to Gambia".
During the second week of the festival, everyone will be able to add to their knowledge - lecturers from Lithuania and Spain will talk about the history of the Spanish language, its spread in the world and its benefits. It will also be possible to learn more about the Spanish-speaking world at the Spanish language and culture olympiad, where there will be a fun battle of minds and other tasks, the best ones of which will win valuable prizes.
This year, "Primavera en español" invites you not only to get to know the entire world that speaks the language of the sunny part of Europe, but also to look for parallels between Spanish culture and other cultures. They will be discussed at the "Unidos en el cine" evening of short films from around the world.
On April 17, not only the closing of the festival will take place, but also the third birthday fiesta of the VDU Miguel de Cervantes Club. Salsa dance will fill everyone with southern passion - after the dancers' performance, event participants will be able to learn the steps of this popular dance themselves. It will not be complete without a birthday cake and 100 colorful balloons, which will be released into the air to say goodbye until the next Spanish spring.
The festival is organized by the Miguel de Cervantes Spanish Language and Culture Club and the VMU Institute of Foreign Languages in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Lithuania.
