We started waiting for the most beautiful holidays of the year together with the VDU community
December 9 The Vytautas Magnus University (VDU) Student Representation invited students, teachers and university employees to the VDU Community Christmas. It is an event that has already become a tradition, bringing together members of the VMU academic community and encouraging them to forget the session for a while, take a break from work and spend time together.
This year, Community Christmas started with the discussion "Me, the cookie and the teacher". VMU student Žygymantas Fokts interviewed university teacher prof. Dr. Richard Krikštolaitis. During the conversation, the participants of the discussion talked about the traditions and habits of the Christmas period, comparing them with the experiences of childhood/youth. The lecturer revealed that he does not remember the tradition of lighting the university tree together, so the lighting of the tree in the courtyard of the Faculty of Economics and Management, which followed the discussion, was his first.
Traditionally, the university Christmas tree was lit by VMU Rector Juozas Augutis. In his welcoming speech, the rector wished the students and the entire university community that the light of this Christmas tree would warm them and lead them to the end of the old year and the beginning of the new one, so that the next year would be much better than the last. "I wish all of us happiness, joy, smiles, good mood and, above all, fellowship."
The celebration did not end with the lighting of the tree. Hot non-alcoholic wine, Christmas snacks, tea and coffee served by VDU Cafedemic awaited the participants of the event in the Great Hall of VDU. Also, talented VMU students created the Christmas mood with their music: Viltė Žiginskaitė, Krisitina Chalastauskaitė, Vytenis Danielius and Austeja Guiskyte. Well, during the Christmas workshop, you could make a holiday card, Christmas tree toys or weave a wreath.
At the end of the event, the audience watched the theater troupe Mr. Stagey's performance "The Noise of Silence". This is a performance about noise in silence, designed to develop empathy, the ability to know and understand people who live in silence. During it, not only was there an opportunity to look at solidarity from abroad, but also to experience it, to feel that being together we can change and be changed. Because in the theater, life helps to create, and creativity helps to live.
Having met more than a week ago at VDU Community Christmas, we started looking forward to the most beautiful holidays of the year together with university friends and colleagues. And this weekend we will celebrate the holidays surrounded by loved ones.
VDU Student Representation wishes you beautiful holidays, fulfillment of even the smallest dreams and unforgettable moments.
