"VDU Jazz Connections" already on November 7-9. Don't miss a great opportunity to listen to jazz!
The sixth contemporary jazz festival will take place on November 7-9"VDU Jazz Connections".", where artists from the USA, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Lithuania and other countries will perform this year.
The festival will live up to its name this year as well - the audience will be able to listen to high-level musicians from all over the world, often united in joint projects with colleagues from different countries. The concerts will take place at the Park Inn hotel (K. Donelaičio st. 27), the Galeria Urbana restaurant (Vilniaus st. 22) and the Punto Jazz loft (Kęstučio st. 6).
On the first day, November 7, at 8 p.m. Liudas Mockūnas will perform with the string quartet "Chordos" in the "Alfa" hall of the "Park Inn" hotel. Later, one of the most versatile and recognized Lithuanian drummers, Arkadijus Gotesmanas, will perform there together with the Russian pianist Andrej Razin. Later, at 10:30 p.m., a free concert will be held at the Galeria Urbana restaurant by the trio "Ėuoliniai berželiai", whose performers are experienced in both academic and in the field of improvisational jazz.
On November 8, the "New Nordic Sound" festival program features an impressive line-up of artists from Northern Europe. 8 p.m. Park Inn will host "Maria Faust Jazz Catastrophe" (Denmark, Estonia) and "Konvoj: Ensemble" (Sweden, Lithuania, Denmark). The second night at 10:30 p.m. and the free concert at Galeria Urbana will end again - this time the improvisational music duo "¡haUtUllin!", consisting of Finn Markus Pesonen and Norwegian Håkon Berre, will appear on stage. The duo uses a variety of things to create sound, from bells, plates and chains to pot lids, forks and wooden sticks. The acoustic sound is processed by the computer and comes back with howls, distorted guitar sounds, computer noise and thundering drums.
November 9 8 p.m. at the Park Inn hotel - Red Trio with Mattias Stahl (Portugal, Sweden) and Adam Lane, Vinny Golia and Vijay Anderson (USA). 10 p.m. the festival will be crowned by the concert of the project "Sheep Got Waxed" (Lithuania) "Punto Jazz in the attic". Sheep Got Waxed is a spontaneously born musical organism whose main driving force is improvisation. The band's music is full of freedom, energy, modern, often unexpected, sometimes uncomfortable sound breakthroughs. If you listen closely, you can hear the cry of a sheep being waxed...
The festival is organized by Vytautas the Great University together with record companies "No Business" (Lithuania) and "Barefoot Records" (Denmark).
As has become the norm, VDU graduates free invitations to festival concerts are distributed. More information is available in VMU faculties and departments.
