The citizenship promotion campaign "Man ne dzin"

Lithuanian youth will seek to fashionably "dress up" the elections

This year, the elections in Lithuania will be more colorful and fashionable than ever. This is what the Council of Lithuanian Youth Organizations (LiJOT) will strive for by carrying out an informational campaign to promote citizenshipa "I don't know". During it, young people will be invited to actively participate in the May elections of the President of the Republic of Lithuania and the European Parliament.

"Elections in Lithuania have been boring and gray for twenty years. The voting area for a young person is boring and uninspiring, he simply does not want to be there. We will try to change this, to add at least some color to the elections and thus attract more young people to the polling stations in May," says Mantas Zakarka, President of LiJOT.

According to him, in Lithuania, citizens under the age of thirty rarely use the right to vote. In the last elections, less than a fifth of the country's young citizens expressed their will.

"It is naive to expect that young people who have not participated in elections before will simply decide to participate in them this time. You need to create more reasons for them to come. One of them can be an interesting, creative, non-standard voting space or its accents. This year, we will try to introduce at least one new accent to the elections - designer voting booth curtains. This will be the first small step towards making constituencies attractive for young people," says M. Zakarka.

The organizers of the "Man ne dzin" campaign invite all Lithuanian designers to join the initiative to create a fashionable voting space. The best and most interesting proposals will be made and hung in various electoral districts of Lithuania.

We invite you to send models of original voting booth curtains until April 18. email mail address: mnd@lijot.lt.

Requirements for voting booth curtain design mockups:

- use only the colors of the flag of the Republic of Lithuania - yellow, green and red - and black and white;

- layouts may not use symbols and symbols prohibited by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, directly associated with political parties and candidates participating in the elections;

- layouts must be submitted in PDF format.

 "Man ne dzin" is a non-political informational campaign for the promotion of citizenship, the origins of which go back even further 2004, when Lithuanian citizens participated in the European Parliament elections for the first time. At that time, LiJOT together with its organizations took the initiative to promote youth citizenship, the use of the right to vote and the democratic values of the European Union. "Man ne dzin" has been organized for 10 years before every national and European Union election, encouraging young people to vote and actively participate in civic life, providing basic information about decision-making, democratic processes in the country, allowing live meetings with decision-makers and giving young people the opportunity to deliberate to choose their candidates.
