Friday is the VDU's birthday celebration

Friday, February 14, 2 p.m. Vytautas the Great University's birthday party will be held in the Great Hall of VMU (28 S. Daukanto St.) dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the restoration of VMU and the day of the restoration of the State of Lithuania.

At the beginning of the celebration, VDU honorary doctor's regalia will be presented to the poet, writer, head of VDU publishing house. to the editor Robert Keturakis. The President of the Senate, Prof. Zigmantas Kiaupa, associate professor of the Faculty of Humanities Dalia Kuizinienė. VMU Honorary Doctor R. Keturakis, who accepted the regalia, will also address the audience.

After the presentation of the regalia of the honorary doctor, the congratulation of VMU doctors and the most active doctoral students and the awarding of nominal scholarships will take place in the great hall.

During the festivities, five VMU Honorary Scholarships, which were established five years ago by the University Senate, will be awarded. These scholarships are awarded annually to the best students of VMU, especially those who have distinguished themselves in scientific, artistic, creative, sports and social activities while representing their native country alma mater for Lithuania and the world.

First Secretary of the EU Affairs Coordination Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, VMU graduate Kęstutis Vaškelevičius will present the scholarship for Political Science graduates. "Like many founders of the scholarship, VDU helped me grow as a person and became an irreplaceable boost at work. We are happy that with this scholarship we can pay off at least part of the "debt" and encourage graduate students to broaden their horizons and be active in social activities," said K. Vaškelevičius.

The winners of the scholarship competition of Jonas Smilgevičius, signatory of the Act of Independence, prominent Lithuanian economist and social activist, will also be awarded at the birthday celebration. Lawyer Jonas Kairevičius will present scholarships to students of the Faculty of Economics and Management.

Doctors who defended their doctoral theses at VMU in the 2013-2014 academic year will be awarded VMU doctoral diplomas and marks. The celebrations will not end there - the most active doctoral students and young researchers will also be welcomed at the event.

As usual, the joyful mood at the event will be supported by the performances of the representatives of the Academy of Music.
