VMU SA achievement: Updated VMU Scholarship Award Description Approved

On April 23, 2025, during the VMU Senate meeting, the updated VMU Scholarship Award Description was approved, which increased the scholarship amount and percentage of recipients and updated the procedure for their award. This change was initiated and implemented by the VMU Student Representative Council.
In the newly approved VMU Scholarship Award Description, the amount of the increased incentive scholarship has been increased from the previous 3.75 BSI to 4 BSI. Currently, in Lithuania, the amount of the basic social benefit (1 BSI) is 70 euros, therefore, students will now receive an increased incentive scholarship of 280 euros.
The updated description also confirms that a higher percentage of students will receive scholarships. The base percentage for awarding incentive scholarships has increased from the previous 20 percent to 25 percent.
In the newly adopted document, the awarding of scholarships has been updated in accordance with the changed concept of academic debt:
„"Incentive scholarships are awarded to the best full-time students, part-time students at academies, first-cycle, second-cycle, integrated and professional students studying in state-funded and non-funded places, who do not have academic debts and/or negative study assessments, and whose last semester's credit volume meets the minimum requirements set out in the University's Study Regulations."“
First-year students will no longer be awarded scholarships in the first semester. Previously, such incentive scholarships were awarded for a high competitive score.
