In the elections held at the VMU Vilnius Academy of Education on April 15, Joana Vasiukevi\u010d was elected as the leader of the VMU SA.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201e"I was really excited - even when I found out that I was the only candidate, when I heard the decisive words, that I had been elected, I couldn't believe it. I was incredibly happy, but at the same time a little lost," Joana reveals her emotions after the election.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The newly elected leader says that her biggest expectation for this term is "to represent Vilnius VMU students and create a departmental community where everyone would feel good to be."\u201e<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Before the election, the candidate presented her candidacy to the academy students. Operational guidelines for 2025-2026<\/a>, in which they identified problematic issues and ways to solve them both in the field of student representation at the Vilnius Academy of Education, and the work that it plans to carry out by establishing a branch of the VMU Student Representation in Vilnius.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

One of the main problems is the involvement of elders. As Joana Vasiukevi\u010d writes in her guidelines, \u201eactive involvement of elders would ensure prompt response to students\u201c needs and improve the quality of studies, as well as create an inclusive and collaborative environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A particularly relevant issue for students is breaks during lectures. Currently, the duration of some lectures at the Vilnius Academy of Education is longer than 3 hours, but breaks during them are not regulated. Joana Vasiukevi\u010d mentions in the guidelines that this problem could be solved if these breaks were planned and regulated in lectures longer than 3 hours.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The newly elected leader also promises to legally empower the Student Representative Office in Vilnius, which all students of the Vilnius Academy of Education who wish to join could join, who would contribute to solving emerging problems or creating new initiatives. Students would thus have the opportunity to improve their competencies and gain new knowledge and experience.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201e"I think it is very important to have a representative office in Vilnius as well - after all, we are also students with both problems and a desire to build connections, strengthen the community, and support each other," says Joana.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Another job Joana mentions is promoting the newly established representative office, thus helping students discover new activities and follow the news.<\/p>\n
